I used Mel's 1 foot squares for my side garden last year and couldn't have been happier. Plus the vermiculite, peat moss and compost mixture is the best.
I have a small asparagus patch that is in the second blooming season, one more to go until every season is a harvest.  YUM!
Hubby made  Mel's 4 ft x 4 ft planting boxes subdivided into 1 ft x 1 ft squares planted with beets, broccoli and brussels sprout.  One box is for my "city girl" daughter!
So neat and pretty :)

  2. Some were definitely ready to cut at the base when they were about 6 inches tall but I decided to let the entire patch develop for another year.
